Hello. My name is Cathy and when the pandemic began I needed to keep myself busy. There was so much going on and not much that could be done so I decided to dust off my old crochet hooks and see where that would take me. After making blankets for my entire family and their extended families and friends, my daughter and I decided to go into business.

Crochet Hugs by Cathy is a unique crochet experience for you to choose your favourite type of hug. Any and every blanket (or whatever crochet items you’re looking for) can be completely customized to suit your style! We are operated in Canada with products made in Canada using Canadian-purchased materials.

History of Crochet Hugs by Cathy

On March 18, 2022, the Crochet Hugs by Cathy Instagram account was created. The first three posts were made that same day.

On April 29, 2022, the Crochet Hugs by Cathy YouTube channel was created under the name "Crochet Hugs", but the first video wasn't uploaded until the summer. Later in the channel's lifetime the name would be changed to "Crochet Hugs by Cathy".

In July 2022, this website would become closer to a final launch as active development would become a priority before the launch of the Crochet Hugs by Cathy Public Preview later that month.

In August 2022, Crochet Hugs by Cathy would leave public preview and would officially launch. Since the website's debut in 2022, more products have been added and updates have been made to modernize the site.

In September 2022, the Crochet Hugs by Cathy Twitter account was created. However, we would end up stopping activity on Twitter due to the current situation of Twitter.

In January 2023, the Facebook page for Crochet Hugs by Cathy was created. The Facebook account would contain many of the posts that were posted on the Instagram account.

In July 2023, Crochet Hugs by Cathy created its Threads profile.

In December 2023, we hosted our Christmas Markets. We had a really fun time!

In August 2024, we reached 1000 Instagram followers.

In November 2024, we were at the Big Brothers Big Sisters Sale in Alexander Mackenzie Secondary School.

In January 2025, we launched our biggest homepage redesign yet.
